The Dicky

“Dicky Ol’Boy” or the informal “Dicky” is the Club’s form of Coventry. To be labeled and referred to as “Dicky”, signifies that a member has been duly chastised for behavior unbecoming of the Club’s standards (which, by the way, are set very low).

THE PROCESS

Finger Pointing:
The process of becoming the “Dicky” begins with finger pointing. This is known as “The Finger Pointing Phase” as the finger is used in a pointy manner.

Murmuring:
Members murmur incoherently around or near the accused. (Note: It is not uncommon for finger pointing to overlap the murmuring process, Although this is not sanctioned it is often encouraged.) The Murmur gives the accused time to make case which generally results in increased volume of the murmuring.

Statement of The Accused:
The accused has opportunity to provide a lame excuse. At least one member must pretend to listen.

The Vote:
A gratuitous vote is taken.

The Dicky:
If the member in question is found to be in poor standing (and they will be) the label is applied. Hence forth the accused is now referred to not by their name but as “Dicky Ol’boy” or “Dicky” until such time as the next Congress is adjourned. (This gives all members one last chance to chastise the “Dicky” during that meeting.)

The Double Dicky:
If one is the “Dicky” and blunders again within said time frame, one is then referred to as a “Double Dicky” (D2). A “Double Dicky” is very rare unless you are Mr. M. Walker who claimed the title of the first “Double Dicky” with little to no effort. The “Dicky” will be featured on Dicky The Bull Dog’s billboard each edition of this prestigious publication.
